Hello! I just started reading your blog and I absolutely love it! I know you posted this awhile ago, but I totally know what you mean about the frustration of failing to achieve your goals during a race after you have trained for so many months. During my first (and only) half marathon, my leg started killing me at mile 6 forcing me to slow down and eventually hobble-walk for the majority of the race. I finished in 2:53 and was utterly crushed with disappointment. It turned out I had fracture my fibula, which is why it was hurting so much when I tried to run. I ended up having to wear a cast and using crutches for 12 weeks after finishing the race. The thing I learned is that it's incredibly important to listen to your body even if it means settling for less than you wanted. I haven't run a race since, but your blog is inspiring me to consider training again to try to put my prior defeated experience behind me. Thanks for sharing your stories! I really enjoy reading about your running experiences!

Sounds like your day was much better than mine! It's a great race, but after an experience like that, I will NEVER run it again. :)

Awwww this made me want to cry! My heart wept for you on that day! That marathon was in the news for how hot it was. I know it's been nearly 2 years since you posted this but I can certainly appreciate your mental, if not physical, endurance required to get through it.

:)
