    A Look Back.

Farewell to Freshman Year.

Today was my LAST class of my freshman year – so strange!  I can’t believe how quickly these classes have gone by – makes me sad to think about it being over.  Luckily I have one more sophomore term left though, so I don’t have to worry about it quite yet.  When I got to class this morning, I was greeted by two big boxes of Dunkin Donuts from Michele!

We took our final exams (which I think I did fine on), and when we came back in I did something I haven’t done in a looooong time – I ate a donut!  Actually I split one with a classmate – half was plenty, and it was chocolatey and creamy and a fun rare indulgence.

Speaking of indulgences, for our final day of class party, there were plenty of sweet treats laying around.  Including these little chocolate mice (with almond ears!)…

And tons and tons of CHOCOLATE!  I don’t really eat much sugar these days (despite recent cake and donut consumption), and I knew eating too much chocolate would make me feel sick, so I avoided this area of the room in order to not feel tempted…

For the final day of dining room service, we threw a fancy schmancy family-style lunch, complete with pretty flower arrangements…

And lots of flatware for our complicated place settings.  With TWO (completely unnecessary) hours to set up the classroom, we all pitched in and sat together and joked around, and enjoyed the last day we would all be together (sniff!)…

We set up all the tables in the middle of the room, with 20 chairs on each side.

Complicated place settings times 40 = annoying.  I folded a LOT of napkins!

But in the end our table looked really pretty, so all the work was worth it.

We served challah bread…

And made signature champagne lemonade cocktails…

All of the food today was cuisine of ITALY!  I am sad to tell you that I did not get any pictures of the food today :(  Because the menu was family style, the plates went out of the kitchen and straight onto the dining table – no opportunity to stop and get a photo.  I did get a picture of my plate of food, which had a small sample of Italian goodies though!  Braised fennel, tomatoes and green beans, hand made gnocchi, and herb polenta – all delicious!

Got home nice and early again, and the dogs announced that they would like to be walked.

Casey and I took them for a 2.5 mile stroll around the neighborhood – it is COLD outside!  Now that class is over I am officially on SPRING BREAK!  No class again until March 9th – wooohoooo!  We are headed to Cincinnati next weekend, but until then my days are wide open.  Right now I have no plans, but I am sure the free time will fill up fast.  For now, I’m going to relax and enjoy it.  Off to make dinner!
