This is what almost 24 hours of sleeping will produce – check out that HAIR!
Sorry for lack of posting yesterday – I was completely incapacitated. I tried getting up a few times, but felt so sick each time that I just laid in bed the ENTIRE day. I finally got up around 6pm, because Casey was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night! Having not kept any food down since Saturday night’s dinner – almost 24 hours prior – I decided to try to stomach some simple veggie soup.
I used up these weird gumbo veggies that have been hanging out in my freezer for way too long, and added them to simple vegetable broth. I also added a little individual microwave packed of brown rice that I got at the Jacksonville Marathon expo last weekend.
I thought my stomach might benefit from some solid food, so I added a Trader Joe’s English muffin with Smart Balance on the side.
For some reason the English muffin tasted great (maybe because of the BUTTER?!) but the soup didn’t sit well at all. I ate about half the bowl and gave up. I was awake for about 2 hours, and tried to watch a movie, but believe it or not I was so exhausted I fell asleep before it was over. Food poisoning takes a LOT out of you! I feel like I lost an entire DAY to the sickness – I keep forgetting it is Monday – my schedule is all off now!
By the way, I am no longer blaming the yogurt – since our Friday night dinner at Big Daddy’s, THREE of us have become violently ill – definitely restaurant food poisoning. I’m considering calling them today just to let them know – if it was my restaurant, I would want to know!
So this morning I was crossing my fingers to wake up feeling human again, because I had an early morning yoga date with Kath! My first day of official spring break with no class, and I was up at 5:30am anyways, getting ready for hot vinyasa! I love having day off and plenty of free time, but I’m not really one for sleeping in any more these days – I’d much rather get up and get going!
Luckily when the alarm went off I could tell I was almost back to 100%, so I packed up the yoga mat and headed to class. It was a GREAT class, except I was right next to the heater, which made it extra hot, and I could tell that I was really weakened from the food poisoning. Having not really eaten anything substantial in about 30 hours, I was much much weaker and shakier than normal. It felt great to be moving and sweating again though, and I was more than ready for breakfast when class was over!
Kath and I headed across the parking lot for a decadent feast at Starbucks…
We got the basic Starbucks instant oatmeal, and added our own toppings that she brought – almond butter, chia seeds, pumpkin, blueberry muffin, and dried fruit – YUM!
I always ask them to fill my oatmeal up to the top with water so that it is SOUPY instead of thick and chunky. This bowl was delicious – thanks to Kath for the delicious toppings (and for the photos!). Such a fun start to the day – now I’m at home playing for the rest of the day, and trying to make up for missing an entire DAY yesterday!
