There is no better way to start the day than with a fun happy baby who wants to play!
I started my morning off with a much needed RUN! I was so excited to be able to run on the beach again after enjoying it so much when we were in Topsail.
But we discovered pretty quickly that running in Hilton Head in June is very different from running in North Carolina in May. The heat was SO intense! We ended up covering 5 very hot and sweaty miles, and at the end I was so overheated that I took my shirt off and jumped into the water for a cool down.
After our run, we headed back to the house for breakfast and lazy morning hangout time. We took our time going to the beach because we knew the sun was so hot that we could only last a few hours.
Even though it was insanely hot, it was glorious! I am SO happy that we were able to make it down here for a short, but sweet trip. 100% worth it to hang out with family in my favorite environment – the BEACH!
I spent my entire afternoon playing at the beach. I did my best to lay on my stomach so that I wouldn’t get any more sun on my front side. We spent all day just lounging around, and eventually I went for a long beach walk with Haley. Since it was the last day out in the sun, everyone wanted to take advantage of it and stay out as long as possible. Including this little guy…
Babies are so much FUN at the beach! I have always said that I will not let my blog become a baby blog once I have one of my own, but now I’m not sure! :)
We also discovered today that Casey is a total natural with babies. Jackson was totally content to curl up and sleep on his chest for over an hour – so precious.
We headed in around 4:30 because we had all had enough sun, and we needed to shower and get ready for a family picture session.
Casey and his new BFF.
Have I even shown you guys the beach house yet? I have been so distracted by all this family fun that I haven’t been a very good blogger – my apologies! Here is the main area of the house – the layout is actually very similar to the house we had in Topsail. One big living room/dining room/kitchen combo, with four bedrooms in the corners.
And the outside of the house – with a nice big porch for reading and blogging. The internet only works on the porch, so I am sitting out there now! :)
This evening, as the sun was getting ready to set, we headed back to the beach for cheesy family portrait time. We even had the matching white and khaki color scheme going! But as much as it is cheesy, the pictures are beautiful and we all had a lot of fun doing it. First up – the entire Vondersaar family clan – one big beautiful family, represent
ing four generations!
You know these two – we are representing for the Malone side of the family here in Hilton Head. We are missing the rest of the Malones and sending our love!
Can you tell it was a little bit windy?
Me and Haley…
All the girls! When I read the email that we needed to bring khaki and white for pictures, for some reason I just assumed we had to do shorts and tops. I was totally bummed when I realized that I was the only one who brought dorky shorts and the other girls had cute white dresses and tops!
Boy picture – such a good looking family!
Aunt Toby and Uncle Kevin – I am so grateful that they have let us crash their family vacation two years in a row! THANK YOU!
But I think we all know who wins the cutest family member award.
Since there was no one to take a big group photo, when we got back we did a self-timer shot of the whole family together.
And please notice who stole the baby and snuggled him on her lap. :)
Now we are watching Robin Hood: Men in Tights and pretending like our short vacation isn’t coming to an end so quickly. Haley just gave me the most amazing back massage ever – it reminded me that I really need to use my massage gift certificate!
Tomorrow we’ll be hitting the road back to Charlotte in the afternoon, and heading to Diana and Dan’s housewarming party in the evening – fun fun!
Going to go soak up the last few hours with family that I can. Happy weekend!
