about me
Charlotte Visitors.

This week off is so much fun!!  I don’t think I have ever gone out to eat this much in my entire life.  After getting back from the beach, we ate out twice since we had no food at home, and last night we had a fun dinner at Lulu’s with blogging sensations Kath and CaitlinCaitlin and her husband Kristien are visiting Charlotte in search of a new home – yay!  (stolen photo from Kath)

Even though I have the week off, I’ve been getting up early to either go to 6:30am hot yoga or just to get my day started.  Today, the singing of the rice cooker lured me out of bed with the promise of piping hot steel cut oats, mmmmmmm.

Topped with raisins, cranberries, pepitas, jelly, and PB2 topping.

As I was sitting at my desk enjoying my oats and coffee, scrolling through emails and starting to wake up, Huey started barking like a maniac at the window.  Since he tends to bark at every leaf that blows by, I yelled at him to stop without even looking.  But it turns out we had even more visitors today – Casey (who has a better view of the yard from the other window) announced that there was a huge DEER just outside my window!

Our dogs are German Shorthaired Pointers, and even though we have never actually taken them hunting (vegetarian hunters – what?), they still have the natural instinct.  I grabbed them both and threw them in the bathroom so that they wouldn’t chase my deer friend away, and then lurched for my camera.  This guy was looking right at us!

He must have felt we were friendly, because he encouraged his buddy to come out from where he was hiding behind the trees!

Such a cute little guy.  I’m no deer expert, but he couldn’t have been very old.

After having a stare off for a few minutes, they got bored of my snapping camera and decided to go explore the rest of the neighborhood.

But not without pausing to say goodbye…

A fun little brush with nature to brighten up my morning!  We are meeting culinary school friends for lunch today (more eating out – a new record!), and then I have a walking and yoga date planned with Kath.  This week is flying by!

was it this time last year that you found the deer babies in the Springer yard? these looks like those precious babies grown up quite a bit.

Little 4-6 pointer like that? Probably not more than a couple years old. Though I'm not much more of a deer expert than you. That's pretty cool.

Aww how cute. I saw a deer the other day while driving, and was so shocked at its beauty i didn't realize it was about to run into my car. luckily it stopped itself in time.

Love that you're flexible about eating out! It all balances out in the end.
Those deer stuck around for quite awhile! They must have known they'd get to be on the blog… :)

Great deer pictures! We've had a couple checking out our bird feeder in our back yard over the years, but never got really good pictures of them. Nice work!

It's ashame people kill those beautiful creatures for food. My co-workers talk about their hunting trips all the time and it makes me so upset :(

Those littlle brushes of nature are the best. Always gives me warm fuzzies :-) The main bike path I walk is along the river. When we go out early we always see all sorts of wild life. Then we have the deer in the back yard alot too oh and don't forget the wild turkeys at work!
