    A Look Back.

Early Risers.

Can you tell where I had breakfast this morning?

Look at little closer…

The KERF house!  My alarm went off at 4:50 this morning, so that I could get dressed and be on the other side of town by 5:30 to run with Kath.  Let me just say – there is NO better motivation for an early morning workout, than knowing that someone else is depending on you to show up.  No way would I have ever gotten out of bed that early on my own.

We covered 5 miles at a good pace, and my new shoes felt AMAZING!  My legs were a little rusty from doing a late (8pm!) weight set last night, but the run still felt good, and I am so glad to have it over and done by 6:30am!

After running, we took quick showers and headed downstairs for some of Kath’s signature oatmeal.

Oatmeal buddies.  :)

I topped mine with pumpkin granola, Lindenberry preserves, chocolate Maranatha almond butter, and the famous BISCOFF spread!  That stuff is like crack cocaine in a jar – cannoooot stop eating it.

While we ate our oatmeal, we watched 30 minutes of last night’s So You Think You Can Dance episode – one of my favorite summer programs!  I watch every season.  Summer TV is totally different than regular season TV (read: much trashier), and as much as I miss things like Glee and Survivor, it is a fun break that makes me look forward to their return in the fall!

Favorite summer shows:

  • Next Food Network Star
  • Top Chef (DC this year!)
  • So You Think You Can Dance
  • (I used to watch Big Brother religiously, but have finally given up on it.)

What are your favorites??

Okay, you want to talk about crack cocaine? How about that entire oatmeal bowl in general? Holy cow… looks delish!

Favorite summer TV:

- Secret Life of an American Teenager – total teenage trash, but I love it!
- So You Think You Can Dance!
- Wipeout! (It’s new and it is HILARIOUS!)

Top Chef is probably the only thing I will watch on regular tv this summer. Honestly, I like Top Chef Masters more than the regular competition. There doesn’t seem to be as much of the personal drama on that one. We don’t watch a whole lot of main stream tv and I am always behind on series. Looks like you had a great start to your day!

OK, wait… there’s BISCOFF SPREAD?!? How did I not know about this?! Sounds delicious – Biscoff cookies are my favorite thing about flying the friendly skies. :) I of course Googled it and saw it on Biscoff’s website – do you know if it can be purchased anywhere else? What’s the nutritional value like?

As for TV: SYTYCD and Wipeout. When I was in the hospital having my daughter, I had to turn it off because I was laughing so hard I thought my staples were going to come out. :)

YES!! Check Kath’s blog for the Biscoff details – it is amaaaaazing. :) I think you get it somewhere very random, like Walgreens. Nutritional value is pretty bad – definitely only a here and there type of item.

Ok, I need that Biscoff spread! :)

My favorite summer shows are:

Top Chef, Next Food Network Star, Burn Notice, Psych and Mad Men!! :)

I love Big Brother. It is definitely a time commitment though!

And this summer I think my guilty pleasure is going to be Pretty Little Liars. I barely moved during the pilot except to fast forward through the commercials!

The Amazing Race, Oprah (if it’s not about celebrities or offenders), Simple Fresh Delicious, Til Debt do us Part and Glee. Every single show I watch is while on the treadmill.

I’m so embarassed about some of my summer shows! The Secret Life of an American Teenager, Pretty Little Liars and White Collar (that one is my favorite!).

OK…must admit I’ve been reading your blog since the Flying Pig training blog but never commented. I’ve always thought you should try out for Top Chef. You could be the healthy chef talent.

I am so jazzed for Top Chef. My 16 year old and I are addicted! I *think* there is an episode waiting for me on my DVR right now???

My crack is TJ’s peanut butter pretzels. Oh my.

Thanks for the running tips in your previous post. I am trying to improve my speed and any additional info is wonderful!

I am a total TV junkie (thank you DVR and OnDemand). My absolute 100% favorite show of ANY season is SYTYCD- and I am already LOVING the new format. Other favorites are Secret Life of the American Teenager (not afraid to admit it. . . mostly), Make it or Break it, and this year I am adding Pretty Little Liars and will try Huge to the list.

If your food tastes even half as good as it looks (which I assume it does!) I definitely think you should try out for Top Chef- then I’d add that show too!
