I woke up yesterday missing the beach. Pouring rain and thunder didn’t really help…
Casey and I decided that it was time to mix some things up. Since he works from home, he sits in one spot in our office for most of the day. Heading into summer, we thought maybe he needed a new location and set up. We started by moving everything out of our office/home gym…
Thank god the treadmill has wheels!
When we moved into our house in August, our carpets (that were supposedly professionally cleaned) were absolutely disgusting. The last time I went out of town, Casey got really ambitious and motivated (love that) and bought a carpet steam cleaner. With all the furniture moved out of the office, we vacuumed and steam cleaned the carpets so that they look brand new!
Indy was NOT happy about everything being moved around! He protectively plopped himself down on his half-eaten dog bed out in the hallway.
But eventually decided he just couldn’t take it anymore, and moved himself to the upstairs balcony so he could watch from afar.
Around 3pm, we both realized we were about to keel over and die from starvation, so I headed to the kitchen to whip up an Asian stir fry lunch.
Easy frozen vegetables with garlic, ginger, and sautéed tofu – all cooked with a little bit of soy sauce and black pepper.
Eaten on the couch in front of Top Chef Masters, while I tried to reassure Indy that everything was going to be okay. Note – 3pm, still in pajamas with crazy smudged makeup from the day before. Reason # 457 that I cannot work from home or be a stay at home mom – never getting out of pajamas.
This week’s mission is to clean out the house and get it organized. I’m going room to room and throwing out anything that is not being used or not necessary – nothing is safe! Today’s discoveries – old cigars, an old GUN of Casey’s grandpa’s (what?), and his Halloween Charles Nelson Reilly glasses.
Quick tangeant – back in 2007, Casey and I did a Halloween 5k where you ran in costumes. Lindsey and I ran in matching Ketchup and Mustard costumes…
And Casey decided to go as…Charles Nelson Reilly? I didn’t even know who it was – he had to look it up for me! Apparently some old guy who was on the Match Game? He is so random! :)
Back to our office re-organization. We moved the desks around and switched sides of the office. We also brought in one of our Ikea book shelves to make an L-shaped desk for Casey. I am SO excited about how it turned out!
Please ignore the ugly wicker drawers – they will be leaving as soon as they are replaced.
Casey’s desk, where he spends the large majority of his day. Perhaps the biggest change of all – we switched computers! I got my brand new desktop back in January (and LOVE it), but it really makes more sense for Casey to work on a desktop and for me to work on a laptop. Isn’t he fancy with his two big monitors?
My new and improved work space. I am still adjusting to the laptop – I know having one will be really convenient, for blogging on the go or from the couch, but I am missing my brand new desktop and my beloved Windows 7! So far so good – just need to get all my files transferred now – gag me.
Other side of the office is the home gym! Not too much change over here, except that now the treadmill is facing the other direction – towards the windows.
Weights, barbell, and workout accessories in the corner, and treadmill still encouraging us to “chase the dream.”
Exercise balls stacked on top of the TV – keeping it classy.

After a long day’s work of moving furniture, sorting, organizing, etc. – we decided to go out for dinner. Two nights in a row – who are we? Since we were out of groceries anyways, we headed to Earth Fare to stock up on tofu and take advantage of their large salad bar.
I filled up a big salad bowl, but wasn’t really too impressed with the selection. Maybe it was because we were there so late in the day (almost at closing time), but nothing seemed fresh or good. I was stupid and chose heavy things like sweet potatoes and oranges too, so it ended up being really expensive, which made me mad since none of it tasted good at all.
I picked around the top salads and tried mixing them in with my greens to see if that would help, but about half way through I gave up and declared it a big dinner FAIL. Won’t be visiting the Earth Fare salad bar again any time soon.
Now I am blogging from my new laptop and enjoying another day at home in my “new” office! I have a feeling this week off is going to fly by…

We just moved over the weekend and my dog was a wreck! I guess they're very concerned about what's going on.

random question. What steam cleaner did you get? and do you recomend it? I'm looking for a good one. We've been renting them but it's about time to invest on one.

Lyndsey – that IS true! We are hoping to move to DC in August! We'll be planning a trip out there in June or July to poke around…
Leila – we got the Bissell ProHeat Deep Cleaner. We've only used it a few times, but so far so good! Much cheaper than paying for multiple rentals, plus the cleaning solutions, etc.

Changing things up is always fun and gives you sense of being somewhere different. Looks great! My husband has the dual monitor thing going on too! He is an artist so he has email and informational stuff on one and art stuff on the other.
I have not done the twitter thing yet. People seem to love it though. Oh and I hate it when I spend a ton of money on something that I think will be good and it ends up not tasting good. I hope you had a good day today.
