I grew up helping my mother with her canning….not by choice did I help…I hated all that sort of stuff… but now my mother is gone and I have been making preserves and jams..but not a lot of any one kind. I loved the things she pickled.. She pickled apples, peaches, pears, and figs and I want some of those things again…so I am ready to get down to business and make my own.

I was just doing research on how to get started in canning. My freind was telling me how easy it was and how much fun she had doing it.We will be going to pick pears off trees this weekend.I will then get to see how she does the canning. I cannot wait. The kids are also very excited.

Wow, this is so cool! I get Asian Pears from a friend, my own tomatoes, jams, and now so many more things I could can! Can can!
Thanks for the opportunity… some of these ideas are fantastic…
I want to know more about ‘candied jalapenos’ too!

I would make all kinds of preserves with the fresh, seasonal fruit I’m finding at farmer’s markets right now. I used to can when I was little, but it’s been so long, I no longer have any of my supplies. I would love to try it again.

Honestly, I am not exactly sure what I would like to make if I won the contest. However, I just turned 19, am new to cooking, and would love to try canning out! If I had to choose, I might want to try and can a tomato sauce made from our freshly grown garden tomatoes!.
