    A Look Back.

A Visit From the KERF Family!

Look who is HERE!!  Our special visitors arrived this afternoon, just in time for a quick lunch (prepared by yours truly), and an amazing afternoon biking all over DC!  So fun to be back together with Kath.  :)

IMG_0614 (468x640)

Me, Kath, Matt, and Casey hit the Mt. Vernon trail and headed north towards the city.  After about 5 miles along the trail, we stopped at Gravelly Point and met up with this fantastic blogger – Anne P

IMG_0615 (480x640)

Our gang of five continued up the path until we reached the city.  But of course we stopped for a few pictures along the way…

IMG_0616 (640x471)

Eight miles later, we had reached our destination!

IMG_0618 (480x640)

We paid a quick visit to Mr. Lincoln…

IMG_0619 (640x478)

And stopped by the World War II Memorial to revel in state pride.  How crazy that we became such good friends in North Carolina, both moved away, but ended up just two short hours away from each other in Virginia!

IMG_0622 (640x472)

It was the perfect day to be walking around the city!  Gorgeous skies, plenty of sunshine, and just enough breeze.

When we reached the Washington Monument, we met up with another lovely blogger – Allie

IMG_0629 (640x476)

Now a gang of six, we walked aaaaaaaall the way across the Mall in search of frozen yogurt.  Our yogurt radar directed us towards Capitol Hill, where we found a Sweetgreen – my first time!

IMG_0630 (640x480)

They only have one original flavor, so I topped mine with caramelized pears, chocolate chips, and granola.

IMG_0632 (480x640)

BAM.

IMG_0633 (640x465)

It was a lot more icy than I was expecting – almost reminded me of sorbet!  Pretty good, but my heart still lies with Yagoot.  :)

IMG_0634 (640x466)

We walked almost SEVEN miles across the mall and back, and then raced back to our bikes so that we could head home for dinner.  In total, we walked the 7 miles and biked close to 18 – quite the marathon day for our poor legs!  We said goodbye to Anne and Allie, and then the four of us headed back to Old Town for a fun night out on King Street.  We wound up at Mai Thai for dinner, which turned out to be a GREAT choice.

IMG_0638 (640x480)

My dinner pictures were all dark and blurry, and I don’t want to torture you with them, so instead I’ll just tell you that I got an amazing tofu dish with peanut sauce, and I practically licked my plate clean.

After a delicious dinner on the town, we came back to our house and all ate wedding cake.  Yes, you read that correctly, wedding cake.  Because true friends enjoy sharing ALL of the fun things in life.  :)

Off to rest my tired legs – more fun planned for the morning!

Ahh it was so fun hanging out with you today! We need to get together more often now that I know how to transport myself there pubicly. I walked after we parted ways for about 2 miles and I thought my legs were going to DIE! I can’t imagine biking after that trek.

I love that you are sharing your adventures in DC, it’s giving me so many ideas of what to do while I visit my sister who lives out there :) I’m not gonna lie, I’ve fallen in love with your blog lol, and that top you’re wearing, looks so comfy.

You should try out FroZenYo — they have a few locations around the area and are opening more. They have about 16 flavors (some tart, some not, some sugar free, some fat free, etc) and a whole toppings bar that you apply yourself. And it’s pretty cheap too. Delicious!

I hate it when I am expecting frozen yogurt and I get sorbet. Basically because I HATE sorbet.

But now the wedding cake…looks yum!

Looks like a fun day!

It looks like you had a great day; so much exercise and the weather looks amazing! It must be so nice to spend the day with fellow bloggers.

You are having so much fun in DC already! I’ve never heard of that froyo place, but seems a bit boring with only one flavor although all the toppings sound great. What’s your favorite froyo topping?

Emily @ The Front Burner Blog Reply:

I actually really like chocolate sprinkles. :)
