One of the best days I can remember having in a very long time – looking back through the pictures, it doesn’t even really feel like just one day…
A gorgeous morning in Old Town…
Followed by a trip into the city for a craft show – birthday girl’s request!
And the most beautiful pink skies I have ever seen.
(Saw this couple getting engaged! I couldn’t help myself.)
Back to the house for relaxing and celebrations.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
It was my mom’s birthday, but it felt like the gifts were all mine. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had the perfect day with the people I love most in this world. Afraid to go to sleep because then they will go home tomorrow. It always goes by too quickly…

I’m totally rooting for you for the food blog star too; can I say that?

are you wearing a KU t-shirt in the last few pictures? how do you have any kansas connections? i’m in law school at KU.
p.s. i’m impressed with your frosting layers on the cake – i never get “enough” in the middle layer to make it look right when it is sliced.

This is a such a beautiful photocollage of your family weekend! It resonates with me especially as I grew up in a household of three women–mom, older sister, and me. :) I will be reuniting with them, plus my sister’s brood next week. And I will be down at the Mall myself later today.
I am sure your mom really appreciated your great celebration, too.

Are you wearing a KU (Univ of Kansas) t-shirt in the photo with the candles lit on the cake? I live in Kansas and went to KU. I was just wondering what your connection to KU is?!

awe i LOVE birthdays! and it looks like everyone had fun going around DC. I did an internship on Capitol Hill this summer and it was a bit too hot for me to do too much exploring.
I would definitely love to come back in the fall and walk around more without risking melting into the sidewalk!
