I love making time for friends, catching up, going for a run, and going to church! I also love that feeling of just having FREE time. If I wanted to lay in bed all day watching old movies, I could do that! Weekends are AWESOME!

Sleeping in, breakfasts eaten on a real plate (not on the go), and family time!! :)

Love this post — these are all similar to what I’m planning to do today! I slept in, now I’m stretching, foam rolling and watching “90210″ on SoapNet. A pedicure, a short run/walk and an awesome dinner are all on tap for the rest of the day. Enjoy your weekend!

Stacy @ Every Little Thing     at 10:50 am

Definitely laying in bed for an hour after I wake up, just talking, the farmer’s market, cooking a slow leisurely breakfast/lunch, taking my time with household chores…endless!

AJ @ Flowing to Fifty     at 10:51 am

Everything you just said!! Add in some quiet time to think, some baking time, and maybe even some girly TV time…if there’s some decorating on HGTV. Life is good, isn’t it?

Emily Malone Reply:

I definitely watched a LOT of HGTV yesterday too. :)

My weekends are always jam-packed since I work most of Sunday morning/afternoon and spend a good chunk on food prep. But I love that my husband is home and knowing that he’ll be there when I get back :)

Great post Emily – Beautiful photos!

Even though Saturdays are great because they’re the beginning of the weekend, I enjoy Sundays the most because I tend to do a lot of cooking/baking/food prep projects before I go to volunteer at a local market where I spend a few hours prepping food for the weekly CSA. I’m not sure what I’m going to do next month when I don’t have that volunteer work on the weekends! Prolly bake more, LOL.

…homework! :-/

Oh, the life of a student. That’s the one thing I hate about student life- always having the spectre of homework hanging over your head 24/7. It’s hard to fully enjoy and relax on the weekend when you have so much work to do. But on the upside, student life does mean that I can go grocery shopping at 1 pm on a tuesday.

Lazy unscheduled mornings, big breakfasts, satisfaction of starting and finishing household items, movie watching, quality time with family, family outings, trying out new recipes for dinner/supper, and recharging for the week ahead.

The best part of the weekend is not spending over an hour just commuting to work. My wife and I love walking and riding on the Mt Vernon trail when the weather permits and we can not wait till spring. We are also hoping to move to the Alexandria area from Stafford Va this spring. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

First off, all of these photos are beautiful! Each of them tells a story. I especially love the ones with your adorable dogs! So cute. I would say my favorite part of the weekend is waking up and being able to leisurely enjoy reading the newspaper and having a warm mug of coffee!

We’ve been blessed with great weekend weather lately and my favorite part has been spending time outside. I work on the 12th floor of a large office building Mon-Fri and Sat-Sun I get a much-needed dose of sunshine! My 2nd favorite thing about the weekend? Hanging out in workout clothes all day long – it’s like wearing pajamas, but you don’t look lazy! :)

Well, if I had access to chocolate pancakes, you can bet it would be my favorite part of the weekend.

Your site relaxes me and makes me want to eat healthy. Because of this, you provide a great service.

By the way, why is it that culinary artists are so good at taking pictures of their art? Am I wrong in asking this, or am I just hungry?

This weekend is a 3-day weekend for me and I just had a really good 11-mile run!

I’ll admit my favorite part of this weekend is waking up on Sunday and realizing with Monday off I still have two more days to take my sweet time doing whatever I want (cooking, blogging, yoga, running).

I’ll also admit that every time I see a picture of one of your dogs I want another — but my heart can’t take it yet!

weekends are for the farmers’ market, yoga, uncharacteristic optimism, and perhaps a cocktail.

lovely post! makes me miss DC :)

I had scrambled eggs this morning too! That looks like a breakfast that I make frequently.

I love watching HGTV or Travel Channel on the weekend or going out to run errands with my husband. :-)

My favorite part of the weekend is the part of the weekend I don’t spend working at a ski resort making espressos for hundreds of people. AKA, April-October. :) For real, though, my favorite part of days off are all the food choices in my fridge, as opposed to whatever I packed that day!

[Reply]

This weekend has been about FOOD! I’ve loved having extra time to cook new recipes and visit far-away restaurants!

Staying forever in the warm bed talking and laughing. Then, when the hunger forces you to get up, tucking into an awesome brunch. A huge fruit platter, eggs and fresh coffee. Delicious past-time.

“Where the pups look forward to daily walks on the trail.” – love the photo of your babies! I like taking my time to cook and workout on the weekends. Working full time leads to a lot of mid-week rush sessions – fitting in workouts after dark, house stuff, etc. and next thing you know it’s time to do it all over again. The slower pace and outdoor CA sunshine is much needed after a work week of crazy.

You go to the farmer’s market in Alexandria, right? I normally hit the one at Dupont, but I may have to try yours for something different. Especially since those eggs look so good!

Ah, your weekend looks so peaceful and your town so quaint. My favorite weekends are the lazy ones curled up on my couch with good coffee and an America’s Next Top Model marathon on TV. Ain’t no shame in my game.

PS: I love, love. love your blog and mentioned it in my post on healthy eating today.

Also – those pancakes look amazing! Is your recipe posted somewhere?

What’s not to like about weekends? We usually go to the local farmers market to stock up, watch movies, play around in the kitchen…
