It is a miracle. The dishwasher man DID in fact decide to return! The afternoon was spent hostage in the house waiting for repairs, and tackling the mountain of dishes that had overtaken the kitchen once the dishwasher was fixed. Once everything was cleaned up, we were anxious to finally get out of the house. We headed to the coffee shop around the corner to work for a few hours, and returned home to this scene…
Tea and coffee…
Grains absolutely everywhere…
And a lot of sweeping needed.
GUILT all over their faces.
While I attempt to get my kitchen under control so that I can cook for you guys again, in the meantime check out the new “featured recipes” on my Recipe page (powered by Recipage!). This week’s favorites are all made with one of my favorite grains – quinoa! Enjoy. :)

OMG. I would have FLIPPED a lid.
I remember when my dogs used to destroy furniture, or my cat chewing/clawing things…It’s an exercise in patience.
Hang in there and good luck with the cleanup! And I can’t believe you found time/energy to blog given the mess!
:)

Oh no! Rascal ate 22 out of 30 gingerbread cookie ornaments once and strategically hid the other 8 around the condo one Christmas season. We found one under a shoe, under a pillow, under the ottoman, under a laptop bag…

OMG! what a mess! I am glad my dogs weigh 10 pounds and can’t really get into anything unless it’s on the floor.

Busted! The funny thing is that they actually do look guilty in the picture!

Ahhh reminds me of the butternut squash incident! Silly pups.

Did they ingest any coffee/tea? Caffeine is toxic to pups – just a heads up! If they did, might want to make a call to a local emergency vet if you haven’t already!

Thank goodness!! :) Sorry, just a crazy vet student freak out! Silly dogs. Mine covered my kitchen in chipboard after getting a wild hair to raid the recycling. Little sneaks.

Trust me, that was my reaction too until Casey told me it was decaf! We’ve had too many scares in the past.

Hahahaha wait story of my HOUSE. Your dogs are cute little bandits
[Reply]
Oy!! And they were so good on the drive home right?! Good thing they are so cute!
[Reply]
Those naughty pups! I have a ten month old black lab – so I feel ya! If I turn my back for a second, it’s bad news!! But we love them, don’t we? :)
[Reply]
That’s insane! At least the guy came to fix your dishwasher!
[Reply]
Those really are guilty faces!! My dog cannot but help have a guilty face when she chooses to go against the rules :)
[Reply]
oh no! don’t show me that!! we just left our dogs out of their cages for the first time today and i was a wreck all afternoon! so far so good but i’m just waiting for something like this to happen.
[Reply]
They’re lucky that they’re so cute!
[Reply]
I recognize that look they’re giving you. I have one who will get into stuff if he’s upset that we’re gone! Not a fun thing to come home to.
[Reply]
Those bad boys! My Charlie would be getting a scolding!
[Reply]
The same thing happens at our house. But our dog prefers cookbooks :(
[Reply]
Oh this made me laugh!! I can just imagine them working as a team getting into all that stuff. Good thing they are cute:)
[Reply]
oh no. it looks like they were telling you not to leave them so soon after being back together. my old dogs would do that a lot, until we figured it out.
[Reply]
Oh my gosh…what a day! I remember coming home to destroyed kitchens from my dog too. Hope it’s not too much of a pain to clean up!
[Reply]
But they are so cute…how can you be mad at them?!
[Reply]
Oh dear, they really do look guilty!
[Reply]
Uh oh! The pups didn’t want to be left alone. They missed mommy and daddy haha.

I’ve never commented before but I just had to on this one… I left a small bag of a bunch of teas in my backpack about a week ago. I left the house for a few hours, came back and my two dogs did the same thing. Tea grains were all over the house, the worse part was it was stuck all over their big bed. Took forever to get it all cleaned out!
Good Luck!

ahhh that is the worst!

oh no! my kitty gets that expression her face too. except she usually goes after dangly things… like right now, she’s attacking the papasan chair… off to reclaim my living room!

Oh no! What a mess.
I love quinoa though, so that’d make me feel better. ;)

When I read that it was coffee I immediately imagined two CRAZY hyper pups running up and down your staircase, lol (I since read that it was decaf – phew).
Good luck cleaning everything up! =) Also, hooray for dishwashers!

I know guilty pup faces all too well in this house!!

My puppy loves my vibrams! not for chewing, he just likes burying them in the backyard lol so i guess its a plus lol he also loves to bring one of my moccasin slippers into the living room and then go get a flipflop and chew it to bits. Im definitely happy he prefers to chew the $2 old navy flip flop over my more expensive slippers lol
Were your puppers super wired after all the caffeine they chewed threw?

Luckily it was all decaf!
[Reply]
My old roommate’s dog destroyed EVERYTHING. Shoes, furniture, books, board games, you name it, if we accidentally left it somewhere it shouldn’t be it was pretty much guaranteed to get shredded. And they always look sooo sad and guilty it’s impossible to get mad at them…
[Reply]
They are so naughty. And then — those adorable faces!
[Reply]
When Ruthie was a puppy, she got into a box of regular coffee beans (not decaf) that had been delivered and I left on the stairs. Boy was she wired that night!!! Didn’t do the vet thing, just watched her closely.
[Reply]
BTW: did they enjoy the Chai spiced tea?

They actually didn’t get to the tea! Just the box – lucky for me it was in a foil pouch inside, so that was the one thing that remained intact. Lots of barley pooping today – very gross. :)

Awww, bad dogs!! :(
If they are anything like my pups, they were probably getting back at you for leaving them home alone after not seeing them all weekend. My dogs are sweet as pie, but can be so spiteful sometimes!
[Reply]
The dogs faces are priceless. As mom of a similar shepherd mix bad actor, I’ve come home to many similar scenes over the years. Lou always skulks around the corner, smiling very guiltily. Would love to catch the “action” on a nanny cam sometime!
[Reply]
Oh my I guess they want more attention. Look at their faces. Like I didn’t do it it was him.
Coffee is so hard to clean up too all those tiny pieces. I feel sorry for you having to clean all that up. I hope today is better!
[Reply]
Ok, the looks on their faces made me laugh. Doesn’t make you wonder what they were thinking? I wonder which one instigated their little party.
[Reply]
Hahaha that reminds me of my rotweiller puppy… you never know what you will come home to if she has been loose and alone all day!!!!
[Reply]
Oh my gosh! I can totally relate. My family has had to start BUNGY CORDING (spelling?) our trash cans closed so that the dogs can’t get in!
puppies are just like small children.
[Reply]
Isn’t it hilarious how they always tell on themselves. Even if you don’t see what they did initially, you still know, when you get home, that they did in fact do something :)
[Reply]
I’ve been there!! I came home to my tax refund ripped to shreds once…luckily they let me send it in because they could still see my name but boy was I FUMING at my pup!!
[Reply]
Haha. The guilt IS all over their faces! This reminds me of the time my ex-boss wanted me to run to Great Harvest to pick up a loaf of bread for their dinner that night. I came back to their house, threw it on the counter and forgot about it. When she came home, she phoned to tell me their cat had torn into it and she had to throw the whole thing away!
[Reply]
That’s a scene I see frequently! Except it’s often unmentionables from the bathroom garbage. :-) Pups are the funniest.

We have covered trash cans in the bathroom for that very reason. Talk about embarrassing!
[Reply]
haha! BAD DOGS!! Did you get mad at them? I can never get mad at Maizey if I find something after the fact because I don’t think she can remember what she did wrong!

The culprit has since been identified (Indy) by his barley poop all over the backyard. So lovely!

I must say, I’m so glad that you share with us these little scenarios with your pups…glad to know things like this happens to everyone!
