We have had such a wonderful week with Casey’s parents here visiting. They got the ultimate luck – a week of beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures during February in Seattle! We have taken advantage and done things like taking long walks at Greenlake…
And tested Cullen directly in his stroller (without the car seat attachment) before taking it to Hawaii. He made it half way around the lake before falling apart – not bad!
He is lucky to be spoiled rotten and have grandparents who are willing to carry all 16 chunky pounds of him.
And we’ve taken our pups on walks to Gas Works to take in the views.
While Casey has been at work, I’ve been doing my best to entertain the grandparents and show them all of the best that Seattle has to offer. I’m trying to lure them out west with mountains, sights, and a cute baby!
And now that our vacation has arrived, I have been tackling my to-do list and getting us ready.
The pups have gone to play at the ranch…
And I have cooked and eaten everything perishable that was left in my refrigerator. I am stuffed.
And now we are somewhere over the Pacific, headed to Maui for eight days of sun, sand, and some much needed relaxation. Maybe even some sleep! I’m hoping that my little munchkin is enjoying his flight, and looks something like this…
And for a little Friday fun, here’s a short video that Cullen and I recorded before we left – just to say HI!

(And as for the Pacific Ocean comment, people claiming Seattle is on the ocean don’t really know — it’s a bay people! But I didn’t see the Pacific Ocean until I was 26, so I can’t judge :)

I’m so glad you guys lucked out with weather this week. Matt’s parents were visiting during the snowpocalpse, which was obviously less than ideal for showing them our wonderful city! :(

Wow, chunker! My littlest one was 16 pounds at 14 months…even at 24 months she only weighs 20lbs….ok, 21 on a really really good day!

Girl, you’ve totally seen the Pacific! Seattle is right on it!
I live in Australia now, but I’m from Vancouver originally and we used to have friends from the prairies visit all the time who had never seen ANY ocean at all! That was crazy, and totally fun to take them to the beach.

I’ve been taking my son, Finn, to swim lessons since he was 5 months old. He absolutely loves the water and at 17 months old he’s now kicking and swimming with his arms. My husband and I rotate every week so he’s comfortable with both of us in the water. Hope Cullen enjoys his first swim. Have a fabulous time.

You, Casey and Cullen need to take trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon. It’s around a 4 hour drive from Seattle and is SO worth it, it is absolutely gorgeous. My best friend and I drove to Cannon Beach from Seattle last summer to spend a day hanging on the beach and neither of us wanted to leave!

Have an amazing time, I am absolutely green with envy! We were there in February last year and it was the perfect time to get away from the Seattle winter. I saw you mentioned whales on twitter – if you go snorkeling, you’ll be able to hear them underwater! It was one of my favorite parts of our trip.

Seattle is a ways from the Pacific Ocean. It’s possible that she has never been there, especially with a small baby.

Have so much fun! We just got back from the big Island a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. I miss that sun ;) Cullen will love it! My little girl was due about the same time as Cullen, but born via c-section a few weeks early. She is only about 13 lbs, so yea he is HUGE :) so cute!
