Fall Finds.

Hello my friends!  We are having a good week here so far, and I hope you guys are too.  Graham’s birthday is next week (SOB), so I have been busy planning and getting ready for that.  It’s also our first week of kombucha home delivery service here in Seattle, so that’s been really fun (and busy) to kick off.

In the meantime, I did end up finding some good ways to put all those apples to good use.  Cullen and I spent nap time one day making this delicious homemade apple crisp.  We made the crisp part out of superfood mix, almond meal, rolled oats, coconut oil, and a touch of sugar.  Topped it all off with Ellenos (local) Greek yogurt – it was incredible!  Almost makes me want to go pick more apples.

In other food-related news, I thought I’d share with you guys that we have a new kombucha flavor – Spiced Rooibos!  I know I’m biased but I think it’s the best one yet.  It’s made from red tea and has hints of cinnamon, lemon, ginger, and more.  It’s seriously addictive!  I’m also loving the red label.  I think this will be our best seller within a few short months!

This time of year I know the world goes crazy for pumpkin spiced everything.  As much as I love pumpkin pie, I generally avoid most pumpkin-flavored things – they all taste really artificial to me.  But there are two things I simply cannot resist.

1.  Ellenos Pumpkin Pie yogurt parfaits – they are insaaaaaaane.  The crumble on top is ridiculous, and the whole thing tastes like a big bite of pie.  I don’t let myself buy the big one at the grocery store because I know it has a ton of sugar, but I do indulge occasionally at the coffee shops.

2.  I recently discovered RXBARs, and have fallen in love.  They have such simple ingredients and aren’t overly sweet.  And as it turns out, I was good friends in college with the brother of the guy who founded the company!  But I found that fun fact out after I was already highly addicted.  My favorite is the chocolate coconut, but I stumbled across these bad boys at Trader Joe’s last week.  They are delicious!!

And while these aren’t edible, they are still all sorts of autumn amazingness.  I’m still loving my oil diffuser and essential oils, and my mother in law recommended this seasonal set from Plant Therapy.  Thet are AMAZING!  My favorite is the Spiced Orange – makes the whole house smell absolutely amazing!

Okay with all this pumpkin talk, it’s only fair to also mention how I plan to justify all that pie this season.  I went to Charlotte for a girls’ weekend two weeks ago, and finally got the chance to try Orange Theory for the first time!

I hated every minute of it, but I also knew that it was exactly the type of workout I’ve been missing in my weekly lineup.  I’ve been doing tons of strength classes (pilates + barre), but really slacking on the cardio.  It’s already much darker here in the mornings and evenings, and finding opportunities to run outside hasn’t been as easy (not to mention the rain has begun!).  But I have missed running as often as I was, and I know my body could really benefit from the HIIT interval method of working out.

And as luck would have it, as soon as I got back to Seattle a new Orange Theory studio opened up in Ballard, about ten minutes from my house.  I took advantage of their free opening week classes, and then immediately signed up for a membership.  I’m committed to going at least three days a week, to keep up my cardio no matter what the weather!

And when I’m not at OrangeTheory, I am lucky to have some awesome outdoor running gear to keep me warm and BRIGHT during those darker runs.  To help get ready for winter, I got to test out the Womens Drift 1/2 Zip Pullover this month from Brooks!

I LOVE the bright colors and all the reflective stripes and patches.  It has a super soft layer of thin fleece on the inside, and is totally wind-proof.  I have a feeling this will get a lot of use this winter!  Please excuse my lack of makeup and hair that hadn’t been washed in three days!e

And speaking of a lot of use, I should have shown you guys this jacket a million years ago.  I got the Brooks LSD Thermal Jacket way back at the beginning of the summer, and I have LIVED in it – no exaggeration.  It is the perfect thickness keeps me just warm enough without overheating, and when it does warm up it folds down and zips right into its own pocket.

This is hands down my favorite apparel piece I’ve gotten this year.  I got a second one for my sister in pink, and my girlfriend here bought a matching one in blue.  The back and sleeves are made of cotton sweatshirt-type material.  It also comes in a vest, and I am trying really hard to resist getting one because I know my outerwear situation is out of hand.  Buy this for yourself right now!

Alright, that’s it from me today!  I am headed to pilates tonight, OrangeTheory tomorrow morning, and then prepping for and celebrating Graham’s birthday this weekend!  Going to be a fun one!
