Hi guys!  I’m excited to share a few fun gift guides for you coming up this season.  I don’t usually do too many, but I know I always love getting gift and product ideas from others, and people ask me all the time for recommendations (particularly for things for the kids).  Look for those coming up soon – the first one for kids will be live tomorrow!

I am basically finished with my holiday shopping this year, which feels like a huge win.  I have really made an effort this year to shop early and as efficiently as possible.  We were in Indiana for Thanksgiving, and I had big plans to tackle the bulk of my list during the huge influx of Black Friday deals.  After the pie was served and the dishes were cleared that Thursday, I sat at the kitchen table with Casey’s mom and aunt and we all clicked and shopped for what we needed for the upcoming holiday season.  We shared deals and suggestions, and I turned them onto one of my biggest money saving tips for online shopping – RetailMeNot!

I know I shared RetailMeNot with you guys during back to school season, and I was so excited for the opportunity to share it again because it’s such an easy thing for me to write about – I use it every single week!  I am one of those people that is obsessive about finding the lowest possible price for online items – sometimes to the point that the time I spend scouring for sales and coupon codes is probably not worth some of the savings.  But now that I’ve started using RetailMeNot, the work is done for me and the savings are maximized. (And you can save too with a $200 gift card giveaway at the end of the post!)

If you have ever googled for “Old Navy coupon code” while checking out your online cart, you’ve probably stumbled upon RetailMeNot through your online searches.  But beyond just those individual landing pages with codes and discount offers, there are so many other great ways to save through RetailMeNot.  Specialized pages like the holiday deals page can show you all the best deals in once place, eliminating the need to click around and search individual stores.   Today I’m going to share my two favorite features of RetailMeNot (and the ways I save money online shopping most often!).  First up, cash back offers!

There is literally nothing easier than activating a cash back offer, and then buying what you were already planning to buy anyway.  I did this on Black Friday for a bunch of sites, and now that my purchases have cleared and shipped, I’m starting to see my offers accepted and the money flowing into my “wallet!”  This is real cash that you can transfer into your bank account, earned by simply clicking and activating a cash back offer!

When I was doing my Black Friday shopping, I found cash back offers for almost every site I was planning to shop, and the best part is that the cash back is on top of whatever other coupons or deals you are already using.  So on the purchase above, I saved 50% off at Gap, and then earned an extra $10 back by activating the cash back offer – double score!

My other favorite feature of RetailMeNot is the new Genie extension for the Google Chrome browser (if you aren’t using Chrome then you aren’t really living!).  It basically takes all the work out of ever even looking for deals and promos again.  Once you add and activate the Chrome extension, the Genie automatically recognizes what site you are shopping and can apply any relevant and current promos. clip_image004

Half the time it suggests coupons and deals that I wasn’t even aware of, so I know I’m always getting the best deal when I finally check out my cart.  This is such a nice new feature!  There were a few items (like Swell bottles for teacher gifts) that I was looking to buy on Black Friday, but I wasn’t sure where the best spot was to get them since they are widely available and not store-specific.  I saw that Macy’s was having 30% off which I stacked with a $20 cash back offer, and it was clearly the best deal.  Woot!

Okay I know I said two favorite things but I have to share one more.  I’ve recently added the RetailMeNot app to my phone for when I’m online shopping on the go (which let’s be honest, happens).  The app is super easy to use on mobile devices, and can even show you deals at stores that are nearby when you turn on your location services!  Pretty cool to just pull up the app on my phone if I’m headed into a store to see what promos I might want to take advantage of!

So that’s how I’m saving this holiday season – a combination of early planning, semi-organized lists of gifts and people to gift to, and help from RetailMeNot with saving extra money wherever possible.  Now can anyone help with a solution to hiding all these boxes when they arrive?  YIkes!
